THE WORLD OF THE INVISIBLE
According to traditional Muslim beliefs, there exists in our world an entire universe of the invisible made up of non-human creatures such as jinn, angels, and of course the devil himself. Moreover, evil forces and witchcraft are considered as concrete realities at work in this lower world. These beliefs, of course, are not unique to Islam but preexist it widely. Thus, in this section, we will focus on the origins of these beliefs by tracing their history, but also by presenting various anthropological and neuropsychological models that could explain their emergence in the human psyche.
